Portugal Day Festival
Celebrations of cultural heritage offer numerous special events in Newark, New Jersey. For three days during the middle of October, the community celebrates fall with a Pumpkin Show. Farmers compete for cash prizes in the largest pumpkin contest. Little girls vie for the honor of being crowned Little Miss Pumpkin. Everyone has the opportunity of entering a favorite pumpkin dessert in a contest. The event also offers live music and dancing along with a doggie costumed parade. Enjoy a host of fall foods. Indulge in a tractor pulled hayride and see all the festive decorations.
